Let You Down

Scaperoth

When I was 13
I got a 6 string
Thought it would make me
A more interesting man

Now almost 40
I still play poorly
Not everything went
According to plan

When I lose the dream and throw the wings on the ground
You’ll know I love you when i let you down
You’ll know I love you when i let you down

If I was an author
I’d write a about her
Love ever after
and the engine would turn

But I’m bad at writing
so I’ll keep on trying
Maybe it’s too late
For this old dog to learn

That time I spilled the wine on your favorite gown
You’ll know I love you when i let you down
You’ll know I love you when i let you down

when I was a poet
I’d write a sonnet
So beautiful it would
Make my mother cry

But she is gone now
And I am burnt out
So I’ll just sit here
rhyming whisky and rye

The desperado tips his hat and leaves town
You’ll know I love you when I let you down
You’ll know I love you when I let you down
